Pancharangi

Finally, I am writing about Pancharangi. The combination of Shreya Ghoshal – Mano Murthy – Yograj Bhatt – Jayanth Kaikani is back!! What more can anyone say when this superb combo associated to create another gem. Who can forget the beautiful Araluthiru, Ivanu Geleyanalla, Na Naguva Modalene, etc.As I already told you before, Shreya has sung two songs in the movie. Both are solos by Shreya. Music has been composed by Mano Murthy.

Let me talk about the song which has caught my attention since the day it got released. This song is so special that it has easily become one of my top most favorites songs of Shreya. I would, anyday rate this in Top 20 favorite songs of mine by Shreya. Its titled "Ninnaya Nalumeya". The moment I heard this message, I immediately messaged Kiran Raj that this could be Araluthiru - Part 2 and I will always strict to this point. The song is titled "Ninnaya Nalumeya" and runs for approximately 5 minutes. The song starts with a mindblowing piece played on violin which continues for 30 seconds and then Shreya starts the song with her mellifluous voice.I seriously don't know how to express my emotions on Shreya's singing, beautiful composition by Mano Murthy. This song has left such impact on me which Araluthiru had left some years back. After hearing this track, my respect for Shreya - Mano has increased. He has used beautiful instruments like Guitar, violin, etc. One more thing I noticed in the song is that there is a very unique sound which repeats in the song many times. The interludes are simply amazing, supported by Shreya's harmony. There are two antaras in the song and both are composed on a different tune and the last antara is even more beautiful.Hats off to Shreya and Mano Murthy.I, seriously bow to this combo. No words can describe such songs!!Truly amazing!!This will always be a very very special song and will be in my memory till my last breathe.

Next song is "Hudugaru Beku" and its a completely different genre when compared to the track discussed above. If you people remember, then I also pasted the trailer of this song some days ago. Its a peppy number sung by Shreya, with some chorus parts by Chetan (who also sang Sye Sye Chakora with her). It runs for 5 minutes approximately. Versatile Shreya has modulated her voice to suit the theme of the song.It starts with a tune played on guitar and flute followed by awesome harmony by Shreya. She has completely modulated her voice and it sounds awesome , as usual. This would be one of my favorite peppy songs of Shreya. Chetan has given good support to Shreya in backing vocals. Shreya has some awesome western harmony in the second interlude.

Please don't miss to hear these songs, specially Ninnaya Nalumeya. If you are a music lover, then please please go for it!!

ps: I would recommend you all to also hear the instrumental version of Ninnaya Nalumeya. And I'll post about Jackie and other 3 songs of Shreya tomorrow because I want this post to stay as a latest post for atleast one day.

Kannalli Kannittu Nodu - Bindaas Hudugi

Hi friends.I am again back with my new post. This time its about a Kannada song titled "Kannalli Kannittu Nodu" from the movie "Bindaas Hugugi". The song was released after Pancharangi but I'll write about it after this post.

Anyway, coming back to the song, its been sung by Shreya and Tippu and composed by Yarra Ramesh (never heard about him before).

Its a melody which runs for 4 minutes 30 seconds. It starts with a tune played on flute. Its a simple romantic song supported by usual common beats used in most of the Kannada songs.Shreya does a splendid, as usual. There is a beautiful harmony by Shreya after the mukhda.Tippu has given good support to Shreya but I never found his voice attractive or mesmerizing. Yarra Ramesh has done quite a good job with the instrumentation. I have nothing more to say about this song.Overall, its a nice track.

ps: I know I've been very late in writing about Pancharangi and you all know that I couldn't post it because of my busy college schedule and I seriously can't write anything in a hurry and specially, when its about the wonderful combo of Shreya - Mano Murthy - Yograj Bhatt, then I don't want to take risk! So, my next post will be of Pancharangi followed by the deluge of posts including one about a Hindi song!

Shreya's interview taken by Hemant Parikh

I posted some interviews of Shreya in the Twitter fanclub which were taken by Hemant Parikh in Auckland. Thought of posting them here too.So, here are they:

Btw, in the Part 2, Shreya really appreciates the blogs and fanclubs made on her. I just want to say that I will keep writing about your songs till my last breathe, Shreya :)

Ishq Hai Ye - Thakita Thakita (Telugu)

Its been too long that I posted in the blog. This college life has screwed all my schedules. But still, whatever happens, I don’t forget to post in the blog because that has become the most major part of my life. So, here I am with her new Telugu track “Ishq Hai Ye” (yes, its titled in Hindi).

The track is a sung by Shreya and Prasanna ( who also sang the beautiful Unnai Ninaithaen with our nightingale). Music has been composed by Bobo Shashi. The track runs for 5 minutes. It begins with a beautiful harmony by Shreya followed by a short alaap. Then, the chorus begins singing “Ishq Hai Ye”. I can relate this song with Tere Naina from CC2C as the antaras of both the songs are fast supported with techno music (You'll understand what I mean after hearing the track).Shreya truly sounds angelic and the interludes are simply mindblowing. The first interlude begins with a harmony by Shreya followed a beautiful piece played on Harmonium and Tabla in Qawalli style. I liked the way Shreya added "hmm haan" in the antara. The second interlude has a mesmerizing piece played on saxaphone. Prasanna has given good support to Shreya. The starting line " Kannulake Kalava Kalava" is so beautifully sung by Shreya. I am hearing this song atleast 10 times a day. A very rich composition by Bobo Shashi and ofcourse, awesome singing by Shreya and Prasanna as well.

Shreya sings in Krishna Sakha!

Shreya has sung two beautiful Bhajans in album called “Krishna Sakha”. You gotta hear those songs people! :)

1. Maiyyan Yashoda Tera Kanhaiyan - Shreya

2.Nand Ka Laala Bansuri Wala - Shreya

3.Mat Roko Dagar Mere Shyam - Shreya Ghoshal & Abhijeet Arun

All the three bhajans are very soulful but it seems that the songs were recorded 3-4 years ago. Music has been composed by Abhijeet Arun.

Hear the songs online here: http://www.raaga.com/channels/hindi/album/HD001447.html

ps: I have to write about a lot of pending songs. Will write as soon as possible.Stay tuned!

Inthe Nanna - Eno Onthara

I am here with a new post which is about Shreya’s recent Kannada release “Inthe Nanna Preethiya” from “Eno Onthara”. It’s a duet alongside Sonu Nigam. Music is composed by V.Harikrishna.

The song runs for 5 minutes approximately. It starts with a beautiful tune (which also gets repeated in the second interlude) played on shehnai which reminded of the starting interlude of Betaab Dil Hai from Phir Milenge. Its a very beautiful melody. It could be one of the best Kannada songs of Shreya. The first line of the song itself is very catchy and needless to say, Shreya sounds angelic! I am very impressed by the antaras of this track. They are wonderfully composed and sung by Shreya and Sonu Nigam has given good support to her.I don’t have much to say about the song. The song may look simple but its very difficult to sing because it includes lot of feel and emotions. It has become one of my favorite Kannada songs of Shreya. Hope to hear more songs of Shreya with V.Harikrishna.

Kiran Raj has also given the lyrics and translation of this song. So, I am posting them here:

Chita Pata (Lyrics with Translation)

I am posting the lyrics of Shreya’s recent Kannada hit Chita Pata along with its translation and who else than Kiran Raj can do this awesome work? I am very grateful to him for this help but he is not sure if he has correctly expressed the meaning.

Here are they:

Shreya:

Chita pata pata male hani jhinugi…

Puti putiyuva edeyali karagi…

In the middle of two warm-breathed hearts…)

Karthik:

Have flied out…even as my patience tried

in vain to prevent it…)

Nava maasa kaayade…

Hosa bhoomi noduva…

Hasu kandana aa avasara…

which is eager to see the new world…

without waiting for 9 months)

I wish to give birth to you…

even if I have to leave this world)

Bisiyusirina mangala naduve…

Onde samane…

National Anthem in mesmerizing voice of Shreya Ghoshal!

You all must be knowing that Shreya along with many other singer like Sunidhi, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, etc recorded National Anthem for MTV Channel composed by Salim – Sulaiman. Shreya even retweeted the link which I posted on Twitter from the fanclub. No changes have been made in the National Anthem. Shreya’s lines gives me big goose bumps. No singer can ever touch the feel through which she sings.

Singing all the way to the top

India’s melody queen Shreya Ghoshal has sung several songs for Bollywood and other Indian film industries. Besides Hindi, she performs in Assamese, Bengali,Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, and Tamil songs. Ghoshal is one of the most awarded playback singers in recent times, with four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards to her credit.

She is a great fan of Vani Jayaram. Shreya caught the attention of film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for a second time, this time as an adult. In 2000, he offered her the opportunity to be the voice of Paro, the lead female character of his film Devdas, who was portrayed by Aishwarya Rai. Shreya sang five songs under the musical direction of Ismail Darbar in the film. Her performance won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer, as well as Filmfare’s RD Burman Award for New Music Talent, given to upcoming talents in music. She also won a National Film Award for the song “Bairi Piya“.

Her songs “Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai” from Jism, “Mera Dholna” from Bhool Bhulaiyaa, “Teri Ore from Singh Is King”, “Yeh Ishq Haaye” from Jab We Met and “Barso Re” from Guru are all smashing hits you can’t ever forget.

Rohit Revo interviewed Shreya Ghoshal on the eve of her tour to Australia.

You are the only singer to get four national awards at the age of 26 in the Hindi film industry. How does it feel to achieve so much at such a young age?
Well, frankly I have never sung for awards.. I am blessed that I have received so much love and respect from my audiences and jury all throughout. I would say, this is just my beginning, there is a lot to do. I am still evolving as an artist.

June 26th, 2010 has been declared as “SHREYA GHOSHAL DAY” in the state of Ohio in US in recognition of your musical contribution? What was your reaction when you heard this?
This is a big honour and completely unexpected. It was a surprise kept for me when I arrived at Ohio for my concert.. The Governor’s wife presented me this honour. I was too overwhelmed!

From Devdas to Guru and peppy Latto in Ghajini. ….you have had a great going. Where is Shreya Ghoshal heading in the future?
Hmmm! Absolutely no idea where I am headed.. The only forces which drive me in life is a hunger for excellence and the need to do different things. So that will decide how my life shapes up in the future..

Do you think reality TV contests are the right mediu mto attract new music talent to the film industry?
Ans- This question has been asked to me just too many times. Let’s talk something more interesting.

Did you like your experience of being a judge in TV musical contest?
Was fun.. Different kind of experience!

You have sung in many genres. Is there any particular type of song you love to sing?
Indian folk has always attracted me. I would like to experiment more in this genre. And Jazz, which is a very difficult music form, would like to learn it.

DNA INDIA ranked you as #41 in its list of INDIA’s TOP 50 POWER WOMEN. Your reactions please.
Wow. I feel awesome:) but to know that I am powerful is actually intimidating, because with power comes responsibility .So, I got to be very careful with every step I take in life, as everyone’s looking here:)

You had a very successful show in Sydney Opera House last time? What is the best part about performing in Sydney?
The last concert I had in Sydney was simply mind-blowing. One of the best I can say .The audience was simply awesome! And the venue was really prestigious. I love the Sydney spirit…Ekdam mast ..Very lively responsive audience. Big music lovers. Can’t wait too see them again .

You sing so many songs. But what songs do you listen to when you are free?
Hmmm. Lots. From Indian classical to Jazz to old Hindi film to new ones to a little bit of rock.

What is your advice to young singers aspiring to make it big in the film industry?
Before u decide to take the plunge into taking up a career in this industry, you must learn music, make your art really perfect. And be unique, don’t blindly copy someone’s style.

You have such a pretty face and many of your fans want to see you acting as well. Do you have any plans of acting.
I can’t act.. I am a drama queen only at home.

If I ever do an album I will feature in the video (Laughs)

Can you give us a peep into what your fans can expect to see and hear in your upcoming concert in Sydney?
Come to the concert. I am sure I will be able to touch all music lover’s hearts somewhere
There will be songs from all my films, and if requested may be some old Hindi songs, a few of my regional hits.
Its all up to the audience’s mood .So be ready to make some noise! And make your requests heard

What message do you want to give to your fans in Australia?
Excitement is building up, can’t wait to see you guys. Australian fans know how to show their love for the artists and I want to give them that back too.

Ille Ille Ello - Chirru (Kannada)

Shreya’s new Kannada song released recently. Its titled “ Ille Ille Ello” from the movie “Chiru”. Music has been composed by Giridhar Divan. Its sung by Shreya Ghoshal & Sonu Nigam.

The track runs for 4 minutes 45 seconds. It’s a very soothing romantic track and if I had not known the music director of this song, then I would have assumed the composer to be Mano Murthy. Yes, the song is very well composed by Giridhar Divan. Shreya starts with the song first after the harmony by Sonu Nigam. The track falls in the category of Chinna Hele Hegiruve, Obba Huduga Na Manasu, etc. Instruments like guitar, tabla ,etc are used and light western beats blends well with the theme of the song. This is the first time Shreya has word with Giridhar Divan and I hope to hear more of their songs in the future.

ps: Can anyone give me the lyrics of this song along with the meaning? Would be grateful :)

Dabangg

I am little late in posting about Dabangg, though I posted about it in the fanclub the day I heard it. Music has been composed by Sajid - Wajid and Shreya has two duets in the movie. Lets talk about the songs.

First song is “Tere Mast Mast Do Nain”.Its a duet by Shreya Ghoshal & Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The track runs for 6 minutes. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan starts with the song, followed by the traditional instruments like Tabla. The track has a Sufi touch to it. I expected Shreya to have equal contribution to the song but sadly, just like Hamesha & Forever, she sings the last antara but the good thing is that they are promoting Shreya's antara rather than the first antara.I heard that this song was composed long ago and Salman Khan already chose this song to use in Dabangg. This is the best track of the album and one of the finest compositions of Sajid - Wajid and Shreya's voice adds more gold to it.

The last song is "Chori Kiya Re Jiya" sung by Shreya Ghoshal & Sonu Nigam. The track runs for 4 minutes 48 seconds. Its a slow romantic track and again, one of the good compositions of Sajid - Wajid. Thankfully, Shreya has got to sing equally in this song.It starts with a harmony played on Guitar and Sonu Nigam starts with the song. Its oneof its kind and we cannot compare this song with any other track. Shreya, with her sweet voice melts our hearts by her usual flawless rendition. The antaras are well composed. I liked the way Shreya sang "Tujhe sang preet humne lagayi hai..tab jaake ye rut aayi hai". Overall, a sweet romantic track.

Hope you will enjoy the tracks!

We Are Family!!

If the lovely readers of the blog remembers , then I had put “Love u Maa” as one of the upcoming projects of Shreya in a post. It has finally released, but with a different title. Love u Maa has been changed to We Are Family and I remember Shreya tweeting about the wonderful songs she had recorded for the trio Shankar – Ehsaan – Loy for this movie and since that day , I was eagerly waiting for the songs to release.Well, they released some days ago. The movie stars Kajol , Kareena Kapoor & Arjun Rampal.

Let me clear the confusion of some people. Many people were confused about Sun Le Ye Dua. It was never sung by Shreya. Its sung by Bela Shinde. The voice is totally different from Shreya’s golden voice but I wish that it was sung by Shreya. Anyway, Shreya has sung two duets in the movie. One titled “Hamesha & Forever” with Sonu Nigam which was making waves among the fans of Shreya even before it was released and the other is titled “Aankhon Mein Neendein” with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.Let me come to the songs now.

Coming to Hamesha & Forever having duration of 4 minutes 50 seconds. Its a sad song with a pinch of romance in it.It starts with a beautiful Piano piece followed by guitar and flute. The chorus singing 'Hamesha & Forever" repears many times in the song and is very impressive. The song is very well composed and only after hearing it you will get to know why even Shreya was waiting for this song to release. But Shreya has only sung the last antara but the antara is so well composed and absolutely, needless to say, wonderfully sung by our angel that you do not feel the sadness of less singing of Shreya. Her lines are motivating.Till now, I have heard this song many times and I always forward the song just to hear the lines. The way she sings "Akhiyon se keh do roye na" with so much feel is amazing.BIG CLAPS FOR YOU SHREYA.YOU ROCK!!

Second and the last track is "Aankhon Mein Neendein" and I am very happy with the promotions of this song. Its picturized on Kareena Kapoor & Arjun Rampal. Its a very unique track supported with semi westernized sargams which repeats many times in the song. Shreya starts with the song singing those beautiful sargams followed by other lines. She sounds extremely sweet when she sings "Baaton mein shokhi..shokhi mein vaade".. Rahat has got those high pitched lines and the main catcy line of the song is "Hoti zara chahat sada hi sarfiri". The antaras are very well sung by Shreya with wonderful lyrics.I liked the interlude starting from 3:06 - 3:21. The second antara has even more wonderful lyrics and my favorite line in the song is "Haathon mein meri teri lakeerein..meri saari saasein teri jageerein. Its already a hit among Shreya fans and movie lovers.

Hope you people do not miss these wonderful songs by Shreya.

ps: New posts about Dabangg and new Kannada song coming soon!

Shreya's concert in Hyderabad

As you all know , Shreya recently performed at Hyderabad on August 1st.I am posting some of the videos of that concert. Infact , Shreya sang her latest superhit track “Dochey” live at the concert.Don’t miss to watch that video!

Shreya singing Dochey:

Shreya singing Zoobi Doobi:

Shreya’s interview taken backstage in Hyderabad:

Endhiran/ Yanthram/ Robot

Finally, the music of the most awaited movie “Endhiran” releases and as you all must be knowing that Shreya has a song in it and music has been composed by The Mozart of Madras AR Rahman. This movie has been dubbed in Tamil , Telugu & Hindi. In Tamil , the song is titled Kadhal Anakkul (sung by Shreya Ghoshal & Vijay Prakash). In Telugu, its Neelo Valapu ( again sung by Shreya & Vijay) and lastly in Hindi , its titled “Pyaara Tera Ghussa Bhi” ( sung by Shreya Ghoshal & Mohit Chauhan).Since the movie has been dubbed in three languages , the tune would be same in all the three languages!! So if we talk about the Telugu version or Tamil version , it means the same. But I wonder if Hindi version has some changes because they have not released it yet.Anyway , if there will be any changes , I will inform you.Lets come to the song now.

The track runs for 5 minutes 45 seconds. It starts with a techno kind of a tune followed by a tune played on Guitar. Vijay starts with the song first. Its a romantic song with techno feel (as the movie is all about robots and science). Since , its an AR Rahman composition , so you are going to think 10 times before writing anything about the track. It has AR Rahman stamp all over. I liked the way the beats started after Vijay ended the line "azhagin mutram neeya" at 0:57. Shreya starts at 1:13 and the background beats are very impressive. Her lines in the starting are not so easy and as usual, she sang it very easily. I guess , Rahman has used less of instruments and more of technology in this track. Shreya sounds extremely sweet when she renders "Odukira Thanniyil Thanniyil Oxygen Mika Athigam" in the first antara. The second interlude is very impressive and it sounds completely unique. The starting lines of the last antara has been sung by Shreya and she amazingly modulated her voice to suit the theme of the song . The best thing which I liked about the track is Shreya’s wonderful hummings at the end. The way she renders “Anbe” is very cute. Overall , one of the best tamil songs of Shreya.

Sa Ni Pa Ni Ni - Target (Bangla)

This post is about the recent Bangla song of Shreya titled “Sa Ni Pa Ni Ni” from the movie “Target”. Music has been composed by Jeet Ganguly. Earlier associations of Shreya with him has been fantabulous. Lets see what this song has in its kitty!

The track runs for 4 minutes 10 seconds and its sung by Shreya and Shaan. I got reminded of "Dil Hai Chota Sa" after hearing this track , though the tunes doesn't match at all. The track is so sweet to the core.It seems to be a rain track (just guessing by the tune).Shreya starts the song first with her honey soaked voice. The track is already so well composed and Shreya's voice makes it even more sweeter. The instrumentation of the song is very well managed.Santoor adds some mre traditional feel to it. Shaan has got to sing those high pitched lines which suits the song well. Shreya overshadows the male singer completely here (as usual). The first interlude is well composed by the composer supported by Guitar and flute.Overall , the song is one of the best Bangla songs of Shreya.Hope you will not miss this song !!

Unalagai Kondai - Ooh La La Laa !!

Hi friends.I am a little late in posting about Unnalagai Konda in my blog. Was rocking the fanclub in Twitter actually ;). I guess I am going to write some 4-5 posts now.Lets start with Unnalagai Konda only.

I heard the song the same day it got released and also posted it in the fanclub but couldn't write a review the same day.Anyway , the song is from the movie "Ooh La La Laa". Music is composed by Sekhar Chandra & V Kumar( .Has they composed this song together?).This is the first time that Shreya has sung for them. The song is not like the usual Tamil tracks which Shreya has sung so far.The song falls in the category of Oru Varthai by Shreya (but Unalagai Konda is slow when compared to Oru Varthai). The track runs for 4 minutes 15 seconds. Its a slow peppy number supported with western beats and traditional instruments (hope you got in which category does the song falls in). It starts with a beautiful interlude played on flute and, I rewind the song again and again, just to hear this interlude. This beautiful piece also repeats in the second interlude. The stanzas are perfectly made to suit the theme of the song.I liked the little modulation Shreya has made here.Hope you'll like the track.
