Raj -The Showman - Another Kannada Release!!!!

Wow.....it seems the track listing of Kannada Movies these days is incomplete without a Shreya track. After singing two songs in Preethi Nee Shashwathana,Shreya has got not one song, not two songs but three songs in a latest Kannada Release Raj-The Showman.Kiran Raj(regular follower of our blog and my friend) told me that this was the most awaited Kannada Movie.Shreya has one solo.Music is by V.Harikrishna.

First song in the album is "Kuch Kuch Antide" which is a duet with Krishna who also sang the other version of Soniyo from Raaz-The Mystery Continues.I don't know how to explain this song. Its a mixture of little classical touch and romantic songs. Its a 5 minutes 42 seconds track.V.Harikrishna has really impressed with this song. This song will impress you in first hearing itself.Shreya really impresses you with her flawless singing again here.Krishna sings the first lines of antara and Shreya sings "Kuch Kuch Antide" side by side.I really liked the way she sang "Kuch Kuch Antide in the antaras.

Second song is also a duet with Prem titled "Raja Helluvagela".Its a 5 minutes track.Shreya is everywhere in this song. This song has a very differnt kind of a feel. The composer has used traditional Hindustani Instruments like Sitar,flute.etc.
Shreya starts with the song rendering a differnt kind of a tune, may be its little folkish tune but the mood of the song changes in the antara.Shreya has got to sing the mukhra and the first antara.Prem(the male singer) has got to sing the 2nd antara. And that folkish rhythm still continues in both the antaras.Shreya's harmony at the end takes you to another world.

Third song is a SOLO finally. Its titled "Poli Ivanu".Its a 4 minutes 34 seconds track. As far as i could understand, its a lullaby.Sorry,i dont understand the language,so had to guess. And I am sorry if i guessed it wrong. The song has westernised beats in the background.Shreya has got little alaap in both the stanza(little means just for 2-3 seconds). The mood of the song completely changes in the antara.

I really liked Kuch Kuch Antide. It has a different kind of a feel. That doesnt mean I didnt like the other two songs. You all know that i lik every song of Shreya. But i feel Kuch Kuch Antide needed a special mention :).The way Shreya has sung it is mindboggling.

Mariyadhai

After melodious "Oru Vetkam,Shreya's next Tamil release in Mariyadhai.Mostly,Shreya has one song in an Tamil album but Mariyadhai has two tracks by Shreya. Both the songs are duets,Music is by Vijay Anthony who has worked with Shreya for a Tamil Serial.

Lets talk about her first song in the movie "Devadhai Desathil" which is a duet with Hariharan who has sung less but memorable songs with Shreya. Its a 4 minutes 26 seconds song. Its one of the different Tamil songs of Shreya. It is a beautiful melody and Vijay has used the common Indian instruments like Tabla, flute, etc.Hariharan starts with the song and has has got high notes to sing except some lines and Shreya's rendition is as usual mesmerising and sweet. She can sing the low notes very easily.Well, this song is not different but very unique......hehe......u'll get to knw wat do i mean by this after hearing the song.

Second song in the album is "Unnai Ninaithaen" which is a duet with Prasanna.Aah,what to say about this song.I am speechless.I was hearing this song at night yesterday and I was in heaven.Wonderful singing by Shreya again. The song starts with the mesmerising tune played on flute.Again, the male singer has high notes and Shreya has low notes(not exactly low notes) to sing. This is a soothing and light melody.Shreya gives outstanding feel here.Hope u all will love the songs.

ps:Wait for some hours for new post on Shreya's latest Kannada songs.

Oru Vetkam

Before writing anything,I would like to tell all the blog readers that finally,I have decided to write the reviews of the songs.Just informing about the track listing must have looked boring to blog readres. So,here I am with the review of the next Tamil song of Shreya.

Finally, the masterpiece is here again after Kannil Parvai. After two months,Shreya is back in Tamil with the movie "Pasanga".Its a duet with Naresh Iyer.Music is by James Vasanth.I have never heard of James before as I am not much into Tamil songs except Shreya's Tamil songs. It feels really nice that other Tamil musicians are also getting aware of Nightingale's talent. The biggest problem in reviewing Tamil songs is that I dont understand the language at all.But as we all know - "Language,No barrier to Music" and thats why i hear every song of Shreya - be it Tamil,Telugu,Kannada,Bengali or any other language.I wish I could understand Tamil. Its a very sweet language.I dnt understand the language at all but I grasp the lyrics very quickly.Anywayz, lets get back to our work.

This is the song which i liked in first hearing itself.Shreya is sounding so sweet in this song,as usual. Its an melody but a very different kind of melody.Naresh has given ample support to Shreya.I loved the antaras of the song, specially the first antara, may be because Shreya has sung it.James Vasanth has really done a good job. This song is gonna stay in my Ipod for long just like the other Tamil songs of Shreya.Hope u all will enjoy the song!!!!!

Shreya Ghoshal - The New Nightingale

She is the new nightingale of India. She is the modern voice for the new generation yet she is already a stalwart. She’s the favourite of all the new age music composers yet she is classically inclined. She can sing a disco track and at the same time sing an exquisite thumri. She is the bridge between Lata Mangeshkar and the future generation. She is Shreya Ghoshal.

Normally, a lilting voice like Shreya’s would let people know that she has been classically trained very early on. But in this case, the nation actually witnessed her prowess as a child artiste singing better than many adult singers. Kalyanjibhai of Kalyanji-Anandji duo was so convinced of her talent when he heard her in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa show that he took her under his tutelage to polish her as a singer. By then Shreya already had her singing base covered very early on by training for Hindustani Classical music at a very young age in her home town near Kota, Rajasthan.

Few years down the line, on the same platform of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Shreya caught the attention of another big name from Bollywood – Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This time, future seemed brighter as she was offered to sing for the multi-crore Devdas under the baton of Ismail Darbar. The ‘Ishhh’ of ‘Bairi piya’ struck a chord with the listeners instantly.

After a gap of many many years, such a soft and controlled voice was heard. If she surpassed all expectations of a demanding Bhansali and a meticulous taskmaster like Darbar with her solos, then she did even better with the challenging ‘Dola re’. She actually outdid Kavita Krishnamurthy in this song with her controlled energy and exuberance. ‘Dola re’ won her scores of awards, catapulted her singing career, and most importantly made every composer in Bollywood pause and notice her.

As Ismail Durbar says, “I remember Shreya as that young girl who walked into the studio. But when she sang, we were all blown away. She was excellent and therefore I am very happy to see her succeed as she has.”

Recalling the experience of singing ‘Dola Re’, Shreya says it still remains one of her most special songs. “Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) Sir is very sweet. Not many know this but he has a great voice… in fact there are some songs which we have recorded that he hasn’t yet used! Coming to ‘Dola Re’, I remember him and Ismailji (Darbar) being very patient with me. Every line, every mukhda required certain emphasis and Sanjay Sir ensured I got it right. Most of the credit goes to them.”

n a span of just eight years, Shreya managed to zoom up the ladder of popularity of her fans, peers and contemporaries. There isn’t a single top composer today with whom she has not worked. From ‘Jaadu hai nasha hai’ (Jism) to ‘Teri Ore’ (Singh is Kinng) – both Filmfare winners – Shreya has sung a gamut of songs that many singers would be envious of.

“Winning the Filmfare is obviously great. One feels recognised by one’s idols and peers. But I think my greatest joy comes from seeing my fans enjoy my music; that’s the best feeling to have. I think they have always supported me and blessed me and that is why I have reached this far. All my success belongs to them and my gurus,” says Shreya.

Adds Pritam: “Shreya has a beautiful voice and she is very hard working. When I see her win awards today and get all this recognition, I feel very happy for her. When we got together for ‘Teri Ore’, I think at the end of it I knew the song would do well because of the way she had sung it. I think it is one of those songs that will be remembered for years to come.”

Shreya scores over majority of the singing talent today in being versatile not only in the various languages that she sings in but also the genres she attempts. The fallacy that she could sing only soft romantic numbers has been put to rest long back. However, that she can sing soft romantic songs better than any else is indisputable.

But give her an intricate Rahman classic like ‘Barso re megha’ (Guru) and she will bring her own sensibilities to the track. If ‘Barso re megha’ was frothy and upbeat, then the recent Bade Ghulam Ali Khan’s thumri ‘Bhor Bhaye’ from Delhi 6 would make any talent in India nervous to attempt. Yet Rahman had the confidence in Shreya to sing it in her own style. That thumri has put Shreya into a category reserved only for a few talented singers in Bollywood.

As Vishal Dadlani rightly says, “Shreya is an example for the young generation; it is her hard work that has got her this far. And we only hope she continues to progress even more in the years to come.”
But is there any genre she hasn’t done? Or any dream project she is still holding out for?
“You know I am one of those people who only believe in giving 100 per cent to whatever they do. As long as I do my best, I leave everything to god. And that’s how I have conducted my career so far. I have no dream project as such… as long as I get songs to sing, I feel like I am living my dream,” she says.

Nightingale gets her 6th Filmfare!!!!

I am so sorry frnds....I could not post the terrific news earlier as I was out of station for some days. Our Shreya has won Filmfare Award for her melodious number Teri Ore from Singh is King.I am sure Pritam would be very happy as it was his composition.I got this news today itself through Internet.I am so happy for Shreya....truly deserving. She was,is and will always be ahead of other female singers. This is the 6th Filmfare Award(including RD Burman Award and Filmfare Award for Munbe Va) for Shreya.Six filmfare awards in six and a half years of singer career is enough to show the talent of Shreya. That time is not far when she will break the record of Asha Bhosle who has won some 8 filmfare awards I guess.

Congratulations Shreya. No one deserved the award other than u.U are the biggest gift to the Music Industry.God Bless U!!!!!!!
